Emotions and values stories show children what sharing, patience, courage, empathy and conscience look like through one character's choice, not a lecture. The 24 books here run from toddler picture stories to thoughtful reads for ages 10-12, and every one can be read online or played as an audio story. They are made for a short talk afterwards.
These books turn a value into a moment a child can see. HopHop splits his carrot to say thank you. A tiny mouse chews through a hunter’s net to free a proud lion. Leo finds a compass that points to the right choice, and then it goes dark. Children follow the scene and quietly ask themselves what they would do.
The collection is strongest at two ends. For ages 4-6, the stories are short and built around one feeling, often with gentle animal characters: a snail who notices what faster friends miss, a frog who is afraid of the lake. For ages 10-12, the stories are longer and give several characters a voice, so empathy and conscience come with real dilemmas. There are also two very short picks for toddlers: Sepi the hazelnut basket, who gives a nut to every friend, and a teapot who greets everyone warmly.
| Book | Age | Why it works |
|---|---|---|
| HopHop the Sharing Rabbit | 4-6 | Minnie the cat rescues HopHop’s carrot from a thorny bush, and he halves it to thank her. |
| Pip and the Lake of Courage | 4-6 | Scared of deep water, Pip the frog starts with one toe and ends with his first stroke. |
| The Little Sparrow and the Sharing Tree | 4-6 | Pip hides a golden seed in Rowan the tree, then decides to share it with his friends. |
| The Forest Guardian and the Brave Mouse | 7-9 | Squeaky the mouse frees Leo the lion from a net, proving small friends matter. |
| Leo and the Light of Conscience | 10-12 | When his right-choice compass goes dark, Leo has to learn to trust his own heart. |
| The Diary of Chestnut Manor | 10-12 | An attic diary of the Travelers of Kindness leads Leo and his friends to finish its unfinished projects. |
