One sunny morning, Gigi the Giraffe was wandering through the tall grass of the savanna. Suddenly, she saw something bright and shiny near her hooves. There were three long, soft ribbons in brilliant colors! Gigi looked down at them with great surprise and curiosity.

“How pretty they are!” Gigi said. She wanted to look at them more closely. Using her nose, she carefully pushed the red, blue, and yellow ribbons together. She laid them out side by side in a straight line on the soft grass to see how they looked next to each other.

Gigi noticed something interesting about her new treasures. “They are not all the same size!” she realized. She decided to organize them. She put the red ribbon first because it was the longest. She put the blue one in the middle, and the yellow one—the shortest of all—at the very end.

Just then, there was a happy rustle in the bushes. It was her best friend, Ellie the Elephant. “Hello, Gigi! What are those colorful things?” Ellie asked, waving her trunk in the air. Gigi was very happy to see her friend and showed her the beautiful ribbons she had found.

Ellie stepped closer to the ribbons. “I have a different idea for a game,” she said playfully. Using her strong and nimble trunk, Ellie moved the ribbons around. She wanted to group them by their bright colors rather than how long they were. She moved them into different spots to see the colors clearly.

Gigi laughed at Ellie's new arrangement. “But Ellie, sorting them by length makes it easier to compare them!” she explained. Gigi leaned down again and used her head to move the ribbons back into their row by size. The long red ribbon was first again, and the short yellow one was back at the end.

The two friends stopped and looked at the ribbons together. “Look,” said Ellie, “both of our ways are right! We can sort things by how long they are, or by what color they are.” Gigi nodded happily. “You're right, Ellie! Both ways help us see how special each ribbon is.”

“Let's make something big with all of them!” Gigi suggested. Gigi held one end of the ribbons in her mouth, and Ellie held the other ends with her trunk. They twisted and tied the ribbons together until they had made a giant, beautiful bow. It was the biggest, brightest bow the savanna had ever seen.

Gigi felt very smart after their game. She had learned how to compare things. She knew that the red ribbon was longer than the yellow one, and the blue one was shorter than the red one. Comparing colors and lengths was a wonderful and fun way to spend the morning.

As the sun began to set, Gigi and Ellie decided to keep their treasures safe. They collected the ribbons and rolled them up neatly. They tucked them away into the hollow of a big, old tree to keep them clean for another day. Then, the two friends walked home together under the orange sky.
