Books by Age

Age decides most of whether a children's book works: how many words sit on a page, how long the sentences run, how much the pictures carry the story. Each post in this category is written for one age or age range, and each links to real books you can read free on the site.

From black-and-white cards for newborns to six-year-olds getting ready for school and 10-12-year-olds reading chapter books alone, you'll find what to look for at every stage. To go straight to the books, open the 0-3, 4-6, 7-9 and 10-12 age pages.
