One sunny morning, Barnaby the little bear was rolling among the colorful flowers in the forest. Suddenly, he noticed something white shining in the grass. It was a tiny, delicate envelope with a blue seal. Barnaby leaned down curiously and picked it up.

Barnaby looked closely at the envelope. In the corner, there was a small picture of his friend, Lily the rabbit. “This letter must go to Lily!” Barnaby said. The owner of the letter was clear, and it could not wait. Barnaby chose a very important task for himself that day.

Barnaby tied a small red scarf around his neck and held the envelope safely between his paws. Now he was the forest’s sweetest little postman. He took a deep breath and started walking down the path that led into the heart of the forest.

Birds sang songs to him along the way. Barnaby walked through yellow daisies and purple violets. With every step, he held the letter tightly to make sure he didn't drop it. “Postman Barnaby is coming!” he whispered to himself.

After a short while, a gurgling stream appeared in front of the path. There was an old but sturdy wooden bridge over the stream. Barnaby stopped and listened to the sound of the water. Lily’s house was right on the other side of the stream.

“I must be slow and careful,” Barnaby said. He stepped gently on the boards of the bridge, one by one. As the fish below jumped as if to say hello, he managed to reach the opposite bank while keeping his balance. The letter was still clean and perfectly dry.

After crossing the bridge, he came across the oldest and largest tree in the forest. The trunk of this tree was so thick that Barnaby felt tiny as he walked around it. But he did not forget his mission; he turned onto the path right behind the giant tree.

Finally, he saw a small house ahead with a roof the color of a carrot. This was Lily’s home! Colorful pinwheels were spinning in the garden. Barnaby excitedly quickened his pace. The little postman had almost reached his goal.

Barnaby reached the door of the house. He stood on his tiptoes and knocked on the round wooden door three times: Knock, knock, knock! His heart was thumping with excitement. He wondered if Lily was home.

The door opened slowly, and Lily with her long ears stepped out. When she saw Postman Barnaby in his scarf and the letter in his hand, her mouth dropped open in surprise. “Barnaby? What are you doing here?” Lily asked curiously.

“I brought a letter for you, Lily!” Barnaby said. Lily took the envelope and jumped for joy when she saw the picture on it. “This was a very important invitation, I was so sad because I lost it! Thank you, little postman!” Barnaby felt very proud when he saw his friend's happiness.

Barnaby felt very light on his way back home. He had learned how important and beautiful it is to have the responsibility of delivering a message. Now, he wasn't just the forest's little bear; he was also its most reliable little postman.
