Whiskers and the Friend in the Mirror
It was a sunny afternoon. Whiskers the little cat noticed a huge, shiny object in the middle of the room that he had never seen before. It was a giant mirror with a golden frame leaning against the wall.
Whiskers walked slowly toward the mirror. “Oh my!” he thought. Right in front of him was another cat with soft fur and pointy ears, looking just like him.
Whiskers wondered what his new friend would do. He slowly turned his head to the right and waited to see what happened next.
Something incredible happened! The cat in the mirror turned his head to the right at the exact same time. Whiskers was so surprised that his fur puffed up a little with excitement.
Whiskers suddenly jumped high up into the air! “I wonder if he will jump too?” he thought to himself.
When his feet touched the ground, Whiskers decided to try a new experiment. He slowly lifted his right paw and reached out toward the smooth glass.
The furry paw in the mirror lifted up right away. The two paws met right in the middle of the glass. When Whiskers felt the cold glass under his paw, it felt like a little tickle.
Whiskers suddenly stopped and smiled. “I get it!” he said to himself. “This isn't another cat, this is me! The cat in the mirror is my reflection!”
Now he wasn't shy about his friend in the mirror at all. Whiskers started to play games by making funny faces. He squinted his eyes and crinkled his nose.
Then he stuck out his pink tongue and let out a happy meow that sounded like a laugh. Having fun with his own image had turned into the funniest game in the world.
Through this fun game, Whiskers discovered his own ears, his little nose, and his long whiskers. What a fun journey it was to get to know himself!
When playtime was over, Whiskers looked at the mirror one last time with love and gave himself a big smile. The little cat in the mirror was now his best and funniest friend.
