It was a bright, sunny morning in the tropical jungle. A little monkey named Monty was swinging through the giant green leaves when he found a wonderful surprise. It was a big, woven basket filled to the brim with bright yellow, ripe bananas! Monty skipped with joy.

Monty loved bananas, but he didn’t want to eat them all just yet. “I wonder if I can build a tower with these bananas that reaches all the way to the sky?” he thought. It seemed like a grand and fun idea.

Monty got right to work. He found a flat, grey stone and tried to stand the first banana straight up. But “whoosh,” the banana slid to the side and tumbled onto the grass. Bananas were much more slippery than he thought!

“I won't give up!” Monty said to himself. He took a deep breath and tried again. This time, he moved very slowly. He held the banana with both hands, making sure it was perfectly centered on the stone.

One banana, two bananas, and then three! Monty had managed to stack three bananas on top of each other. The tower was already looking beautiful. Monty clapped his hands together in delight.

Monty reached out to add a fourth banana to the very top. Just as he set it down, the tower began to wobble. “Oh no!” Monty cried. Before he could catch it, all the bananas went “thud, thud, thud” and rolled into the grass.

Monty sat down on the soft moss and looked at the scattered fruit. “Why does it keep falling?” he wondered. He tapped his chin and thought very hard. Then, he had a brilliant idea. He needed to make the bottom of his tower much stronger.

This time, Monty started by building a wide base. Instead of just one banana, he laid four bananas side-by-side on the flat stone. Now, the foundation of his tower looked as solid as a castle wall.

Now it was time for the second level. He placed three more bananas on top of the first row. The bananas were supporting each other now. As the tower grew taller and taller, Monty’s excitement grew too.

Finally, he placed one last banana at the very top. The tower was finished! This time, it didn’t wobble at all because the bottom was wide and strong. Monty stood back and admired his hard work.

Just then, his friend Baji the monkey swung by. Monty showed Baji the tower and told him how he built it. “Sometimes things don't work the first time,” Monty explained. “But if we try different ways, we can succeed!”

Monty decided that the best part of having a banana tower was sharing it. He gave bananas to Baji and invited all his other friends for a feast. Working hard and sharing with friends was even more fun than building the tower!
