Little Kevin and the Sleeping Bird
Kevin lived in a peaceful forest where sunlight filtered through the branches. One morning, while sitting under a big eucalyptus tree, he noticed a tiny bird sleeping soundly on a low branch.
The little bird's name was Chirpy. She had tucked her head under her soft wings and was resting without moving at all. A gentle forest breeze rocked her branch back and forth like a cozy cradle.
Just then, Kevin’s best friend Joey the kangaroo arrived. Kevin wanted to jump and play, but as soon as he saw Joey, he immediately put his finger to his lips.
“Shhh!” Kevin whispered softly. “Look, Chirpy is sleeping so sweetly right there. I don't want to wake her up; I think she needs a little more rest.”
Kevin then saw his other friend, Pip the wombat, waddling toward them. Kevin hurried over to Pip and whispered a special suggestion: “Shall we play our quietest game today?”
Joey and Pip loved the idea of a quiet game. They immediately began gathering the colorful leaves that had fallen to the forest floor. Working together silently, they began to arrange the leaves.
No one shouted and no one laughed out loud during the game. Kevin and Joey continued to make new shapes, signaling to each other only with happy glances and soft whispers.
In the middle of the game, Kevin became curious and decided to check on his friend. He softly climbed the thick trunk of the tree to see if Chirpy was still napping.
Chirpy was still sleeping peacefully. Her tiny chest rose and fell gently as she breathed. Kevin smiled when he saw how deeply his friend was resting and he quietly climbed back down.
After a long while, Chirpy stretched her legs, flapped her wings, and finally opened her small eyes. Kevin, who was watching from the branch nearby, said cheerfully, “Good morning, Chirpy!”
Kevin felt wonderful knowing he had helped his friend rest. He realized how important it is to respect others' quiet time. Pip joined them at the tree to celebrate the start of the day.
Once Chirpy was fully awake and refreshed, all the friends went for a peaceful walk through the woods together. The forest looked kinder and more beautiful than ever before.
