Fluffy the little bunny sat at the kitchen table. He could hear his tummy rumbling, “Grumble, grumble!” The morning sun peeked through the window, making the room warm and bright. Fluffy was waiting and waiting. He was very ready for his yummy breakfast!

While he waited, Fluffy looked up at the big, round clock on the wall. It was the most colorful thing in the whole house. Fluffy wondered when the clock would say it was time to eat. He hopped off his chair and moved closer to get a better look.

In the very middle of the clock, there was a picture of Fluffy’s favorite snack. It was a giant, crunchy, bright orange carrot! The carrot had bushy green leaves that reached out toward the numbers. Seeing the carrot made Fluffy feel even hungrier.

Fluffy began to look at all the numbers around the carrot. Each number was a different bright color, and they were all standing in a neat circle. “I wonder what these numbers do?” Fluffy thought. He started to point at them one by one with his little paw.

Suddenly, Fluffy saw a very special number at the very top. It looked bigger and brighter than the others. “That is the number twelve!” he shouted happily. The twelve sat right above the carrot's green leaves, looking like the king of the clock.

Just then, his mom, Flora, walked into the kitchen. She saw Fluffy looking so closely at the clock and smiled. “Hello, Fluffy,” Flora said softly. “See those two sticks moving? One is long and one is short. We call them the hands of the clock.”

Fluffy watched the hands very carefully. The long hand was moving slowly, but the short hand stayed almost still. Flora told him, “The hands move around and around, just like they are playing a game of tag.” Fluffy squinted his eyes to see them move.

Suddenly, the clock made a happy sound: “Ding! Ding!” Flora cheered and said, “Look, Fluffy! It is breakfast time!” She was holding a tray of warm, steaming carrot muffins that smelled delicious. The kitchen was filled with the sweet scent of baking.

As Fluffy took a big, yummy bite of his muffin, he looked back at the wall clock. Now he knew the clock wasn't just a pretty picture. It was a special helper! When the hands moved to the right spot, wonderful things happened.

As soon as he finished eating, Fluffy ran to his toy box. He pulled out his very own toy clock. It was shaped like a bunny with long ears, and it had hands that Fluffy could move himself with his own paws. “Now it’s my turn!” he said.

Fluffy started to spin the hands of his toy clock around and around. “Now it is breakfast time! Now it is play time!” he laughed. Learning about the clock had turned into a brand-new, fun game for the little bunny.

When the sun began to set, Fluffy didn't want to leave his toy clock behind. He carefully placed it on his nightstand right next to his bed. Now, Fluffy and his carrot clock would wait together for the next breakfast time to arrive.
