Zippy the Little Zebra and the Lost Hat
A new day was beginning in the sunny and cheerful savanna. Zippy the little zebra put on his favorite red and blue striped hat. He smiled in the mirror and ran outside to play.
Zippy walked through the big green trees and along the flowery paths. After a while, he wanted to stop and rest. But wait! He felt a strange lightness on his head. When he reached up, he realized his hat was gone!
“Where is my hat?” Zippy shouted. He tried to remember where he had been. He ran back to the large, shady tree where he had just rested. He looked through the leaves and around the tree trunk.
The hat was not under the tree. This time, Zippy ran toward the water's edge. “Maybe I dropped it while I was drinking,” he said. He leaned down and looked into the sparkling water, but he only saw his own reflection.
Just then, Zippy’s best friend, Zoe the Giraffe, arrived. Zoe was very tall and could see everything very well from up high. “Why are you so sad, Zippy?” she asked kindly.
Zippy explained that he had lost his favorite hat. “Don't worry, my friend, let's look for it together,” said Zoe. “Come, let's retrace your steps. Try to remember exactly where you went.”
They started walking together. Zoe was looking from high above, and Zippy was examining the grass on the ground. “I jumped around here for a bit,” Zippy said. Zoe replied, “And I am checking all the tree branches.”
Suddenly, Zippy noticed something small on the ground. “Look! This is a blue thread from my hat!” he said excitedly. On the ground lay a tiny piece of blue yarn that had come loose from the hat's knitting.
Zoe looked in the direction the thread was coming from. “There it is!” she shouted. She saw the colorful hat caught on a branch of a thorny bush, swaying in the wind. She pointed to the top of the bush with her long neck.
Zippy ran over and took his hat off the bush, putting it straight back onto his head. “It is so important to take care of my things,” he said. He thanked Zoe and they both walked home happily under the orange sunset.
