The Little Chick

It was a sunny morning. The Little Chick woke up cheerfully, chirping, 'Cluck, cluck, cluck!' 'What a beautiful day!' she thought. 'Time to collect the eggs!'

Grabbing her little basket, she ran into the garden. Pitter-patter, pitter-patter, her steps were joyful. There were colorful flowers everywhere, and bees were buzzing all around.

There were the first eggs! They shone like pearls in the straw. 'I must take them gently,' she whispered. 'I don't want them to break, because I need to be careful.'

Just then, Cotton the long-eared Rabbit came hopping by. His tummy was rumbling. 'Hello Little Chick, would you share something to eat?' he asked.

The Little Chick smiled. She took a bright red strawberry from the bag she was carrying. 'Of course, I'll share, Cotton! Here you go, this is for you.'

A little further on, Hazel the Squirrel was leaping from branch to branch. He was so fast that he almost knocked over the Little Chick's basket. 'Whoa, be careful, Hazel!' said the Little Chick.

Hazel the Squirrel paused. 'You're right,' he said. 'I was in a hurry.' The Little Chick held out an acorn to him. 'This is for you, too. It's nice to share.'

By the fence, little Cloud the Lamb was bleating sadly. His favorite yellow ball had rolled to the other side of the fence. 'Do you need help?' asked the Little Chick.

'Helping each other is wonderful!' said the Little Chick, and she slipped under the fence. She pushed the yellow ball with her beak and brought it back to Cloud the Lamb.

Now all her friends were together. Cotton the Rabbit was eating his strawberry, and Hazel the Squirrel was nibbling on his acorn. Everyone was very happy.

While Cloud the Lamb played with his ball, the Little Chick looked at her basket full of eggs and her happy friends. Everyone had helped each other and was very kind.

How wonderful it was to play together and help one another! The Little Chick and her friends understood that day: Sharing and being careful makes everyone happy.
