The Color-Changing Bug

On a bright green leaf lived a tiny bug. His name was Spot. Spot was a very special bug because he changed colors with his feelings. When he was happy, he was yellow like the sun. When he was sad, he was blue like the sky.

But Spot didn't like this very much. 'I wish,' he sighed, 'I was always red like the ladybugs, or always black like the ants.' He felt very different from everyone else.

Just then, a cheerful ant walked by. 'Hello Spot! Why do you look so pale?' he asked. This was Andy the Ant. He was always curious and helpful.

'I just wish I had one color,' Spot mumbled. Andy the Ant said, 'Maybe if you roll in the dirt, you can be brown like me!' Spot tried, but when the dirt fell off, he turned purple with disappointment.

Andy the Ant had a great idea. 'Let's go see Mama Ladybug, the wisest bug in the garden! She can help us.' Spot felt a little bit of hope and turned a happy orange.

They found Mama Ladybug resting on a giant sunflower. She welcomed them with a warm smile. 'Welcome, my little friends,' she said gently.

Turning a shy pink, Spot told Mama Ladybug his problem. 'My colors keep changing,' he said. 'That's why nobody wants to play with me.'

Just then, Mama Ladybug saw a tiny berry falling from above. It was about to land right on a little caterpillar sleeping below! 'Oh my! The caterpillar!' cried Mama Ladybug with worry.

Spot didn't even think. To wake up the caterpillar, he thought of the brightest, most eye-catching color he could: A dazzling red! His whole body glowed with a bright red light.

The caterpillar saw the red light, woke up right away, and moved aside. The berry fell to the ground with a 'plop!' Andy the Ant shouted with amazement, 'Spot, you saved him!' Spot started to glow a proud, sunny yellow.

Mama Ladybug smiled. 'You see, Spot? Your colors are a gift. They are your superpower. Being different is what makes you special,' she said.

Spot understood right then. His colors weren't a flaw, they were the best part of him! He glowed with all the colors of the rainbow in happiness. From that day on, Spot and his friends always played together, celebrating how different and special they all were.
