Pip the Little Bird and the Morning Sun
Pip woke up early in the morning. He opened his eyes in his soft nest. Everything was still very quiet, but he was ready to start the day. He flapped his wings slightly and gave a big yawn.
The sun was still behind the tree. Pip poked his head out of his nest. There was a golden glow just behind the wide trunk of the big oak tree. The sun was not fully visible yet, hiding as if it were playing a game.
Pip watched the sky change colors. He flew out of his nest and perched on his favorite thin branch. The sky was like a giant coloring book, and its colors were slowly starting to change.
First, light pink colors appeared. The edges of the clouds turned a sweet pink, as if they had been painted with cotton candy. Pip loved this beautiful color very much.
Then, orange lights appeared. The pink colors slowly gave way to a warm orange glow. Everywhere was suddenly filled with the color of honey. Pip felt the warm light dancing on his feathers.
Finally, the sun came out. It appeared from over the hills with a huge, yellow face! It was rising with a warm smile that embraced the world. Morning had finally arrived.
Pip saw the light falling on the leaves. The dark green leaves were shining brightly in the sunshine. The tiny dew drops on them glistened like little diamonds.
The flowers seemed to bloom with the sun. In the garden below, the red, purple, and yellow flowers stretched their petals toward the sky, showing off their most beautiful colors.
Butterflies started flying too. Just then, Yara the butterfly woke up and flapped her patterned wings. Pip and Yara began to fly in circles around each other in the cool morning air.
The forest slowly came to life. Under the tree, Bounder the Rabbit came out of his burrow and shook his long ears. Pip watched as the forest filled with different sounds and joy.
Pip observed how the morning changed nature. He looked around from a high branch and saw how the world had transformed from gray and dark into a chirpy and colorful place.
He was very happy to be one of the first birds to greet the sun that day. Pip took a deep breath and began to sing his favorite song: “Chirp chirp, good morning sun!”
