Pip the Panda stood on top of a wavy green hill. He felt a soft “whoosh” of wind tickle his ears. “Oh my!” Pip giggled. “The wind is calling for a kite today!” He looked at the sky and imagined something wonderful flying high. Do you like it when the wind blows on your face?

Milo the Monkey came swinging through the trees. He heard Pip's idea and did a happy flip. “I can help!” Milo chirped. He reached into a hollow tree and pulled out a giant spool of long, curly string. Can you find something curly in your room?

Milo scrambled up to the highest branch to look around. He pointed his finger toward a wide, open meadow. “Look, Pip! That spot is flat and perfect for running,” Milo called out. Where is your favorite place to run and play?

Building a kite is a lot of work! Pip and Millie the Mouse took a little break by the sparkling stream. They each took a big, refreshing sip of cool water. “Gulp, gulp, gulp!” said Millie. Now they were ready to get back to work! What is your favorite thing to drink when you are thirsty?

Millie the Mouse scurried through the tall grass. She was looking for something special. “Aha!” she squeaked. She found five soft, colorful feathers. “These will make the perfect tail for our kite,” she said. Can you count to five on your fingers?

Barnaby the Bear walked over, carrying a very long stick. “I found some strong bamboo,” Barnaby rumbled with a kind smile. He helped Pip lay the stick down to make the frame of the kite. Is the bamboo stick long or short?

Luna the Owl flew down from her nest. she wanted the kite to look beautiful. She gathered bright yellow flowers from the meadow and began to tie them onto the string. “Now it will sparkle like the sun,” Luna hooted. What color are the flowers?

The sun was warm, and the friends had worked hard. Barnaby the Bear and Luna the Owl decided to take a short nap. They found a big, leafy tree and sat in the cool shade to rest their eyes. Where do you go when you need to take a nap?

Toby the Turtle moved very slowly and carefully across the grass. He looked down at the ground and moved every little rock out of the way. “We don't want anyone to trip,” Toby said. Pip smiled and helped him. Why is it important to be careful when we run?

“It’s finished!” Pip shouted. He held up the kite for everyone to see. It was a giant, bright blue star! It had a feathery tail and a string decorated with yellow flowers. It was the most beautiful kite in the forest. What shape is the kite?

It was time to fly! Milo held the kite high in the air. Pip took the string and began to run as fast as his legs could go. “One, two, three... fly!” they cheered. The wind caught the blue star and lifted it up, up, up! Can you run in place as fast as Pip?

Millie and Toby watched from below as the kite danced among the clouds. “We did it together!” Millie squeaked. Pip realized that the kite was beautiful, but the best part of the day was working with his friends. Who is your best friend?
