It was a sunny and beautiful morning. Little Elly the elephant went for a joyful walk in the forest, passing through giant green leaves and colorful flowers.

After walking for a while, Elly saw something shimmering behind the trees. When she got closer, she found a calm and deep blue lake that looked just like glass.

Elly was thirsty, so she bent down to the edge of the lake to drink. Just then, she noticed someone looking back at her from inside the water.

“Hello!” Elly said quietly. The little elephant in the water moved its lips too, but it didn't make a sound. Elly wondered who this new friend in the water could be.

Elly lifted her trunk high into the air and waved it. Her friend in the water lifted its trunk at the same time! Elly moved to the right, and the friend moved to the right too.

“This is so much fun!” Elly thought. She opened her eyes wide, flapped her ears like fans, and made her funniest face at her friend in the water.

Elly jumped with excitement and stomped her foot at the edge of the lake. “Splash!” went the water, and small waves began to grow. Her friend in the water disappeared for a moment.

Just then, Cheeko the monkey came out from behind the trees. “Elly, why are you dancing by yourself?” Cheeko asked curiously.

Elly said, “Look Cheeko, there is someone inside the lake!” Cheeko leaned over and looked into the water. He was very surprised to see his own long tail and funny ears.

A colorful bird named Sky flew down from the heavens and landed on the tip of Elly's trunk. When Sky looked at the water, she saw her own bright, colorful wings.

“I understand now!” Cheeko shouted. “This water is just like a mirror! It shows us exactly what we are doing.” Sky chirped and flapped her wings to agree.

Elly now knew that her friend in the water was actually herself. Playing with their reflections by the lake was the most fun thing she and her friends had ever done.
