The sky was spread over the forest like a navy blue blanket. Little Bear Barnaby stepped quietly out of his cave before he got sleepy. He tilted his nose up and inhaled the fresh pine scent. The night was so peaceful.

When he looked up, Barnaby's eyes widened. “Wow!” he whispered. The sky was filled with thousands of stars shining brightly, as if silver glitter had been poured on it. Barnaby began to wonder how many of these twinkling lights there were.

Barnaby began to count the stars one by one, pointing with his soft paw. “One, two, three, four, five, six...” But the stars were so many and so close that he immediately forgot which one he had counted and which one he hadn't. “Oh, did I count this one before?” he murmured.

He tried again, then once more... But every time the numbers got mixed up, and the stars seemed to move. Finally, he sat on a fluffy rock and slumped his shoulders. Counting the stars seemed like a very big and difficult task for a little bear.

Just then, a soft flapping of wings was heard from above. Oliver the Wise Owl glided through the sky with his large eyes and perched on the branch of the tree next to Barnaby. “Why are you so sad, my little friend?” he asked in a soothing voice.

“I want to count the stars, Oliver,” Barnaby said with a sigh. “But there are so many of them that I always get lost while counting.” Oliver smiled. “Sometimes big tasks can't be finished unless you break them into small pieces,” he said. “Come on, let's try counting them in groups of five.”

Oliver pointed his wing at a small area in just the right corner of the sky. “Don't look at the whole sky now,” Oliver said. “Just focus on this small corner.” Barnaby focused his attention only on that spot. Now the stars looked less intimidating.

“Look! One, two, three, four, and five!” Barnaby said excitedly. He had immediately found five bright stars standing side by side as if in a circle. “Wonderful!” said Oliver. “See? Counting five stars is much easier than counting them all at once.”

With Oliver's help, Barnaby divided the sky into small pieces in his mind. Each time he found and counted a new group of five. Counting by fives had become fun, like a game. He wasn't confused anymore because he only focused on that small group each time.

Barnaby, whose eyes were slowly closing, thanked Oliver. Even the biggest tasks in the world could be achieved with small steps. Barnaby returned to his cave, curled up, and fell into a deep sleep dreaming of those shining groups of five in the sky.
