Little Bear Barnaby and the Scent of Flowers
Barnaby was walking through the forest one morning when he caught a sweet scent in the air. It smelled so delicious that his tummy gave a little rumble, and his steps grew faster.
He tilted his nose high toward the sky. To find where the smell was coming from, he took deep breaths and followed the tip of his nose as he set off on his way.
The lovely aroma led him to a wide, sunny clearing hidden deep in the forest, where the ground was covered everywhere with bright yellow flowers.
Barnaby saw little creatures buzzing among the yellow flowers. They were busy bees, happily landing on one flower and then flying to another.
Just then, a tiny bee named Buzzy noticed Barnaby. Buzzy hovered in the air and flew closer to Barnaby with a big, friendly smile.
Barnaby asked excitedly, “Does this wonderful smell come from the flowers?” He sat down among the blossoms and took another deep breath of the sweet air.
Buzzy flapped his wings quickly and replied, “Yes, Barnaby! But we are collecting sweet nectar from these flowers. This nectar will turn into delicious honey back at the hive!”
Barnaby saw how hard the bees were working. He decided to step back a little and watch quietly so he wouldn't scare or disturb them.
He watched in wonder as the bees flew from flower to flower as if they were dancing. Every bee had its own job to do in this vast sea of yellow.
Suddenly, he saw a bee leave a flower and fly quickly toward a big tree with a hive. Buzzy flew ahead to show the way.
Barnaby learned something very important that day. He realized how all living things in the forest—the flowers and the bees—are connected. This discovery made him feel very peaceful.
As the sun began to set, Barnaby started his walk home. The sweet scent was still in his nose, and he knew it was the beautiful song of the whole forest.
