It was a sunny morning in the savanna. Gigi the little giraffe was walking happily. Suddenly, she saw fresh green leaves at the very top of the tallest tree. “Oh my, they look so delicious!” she said.

Gigi felt very hungry. She stretched her long neck up as high as she could. She stretched and stretched... but she couldn't reach the leaves at the top. They seemed as far away as the sky.

Gigi did not give up. “If I try a bit more, I can reach them,” she thought. She stood on her tiptoes and stretched even higher. She tried with all her might to reach the highest point.

No matter how hard Gigi tried, those tasty leaves were still too high. She still couldn't reach them. She lowered her head with a little sigh of disappointment. Would she ever get to have that wonderful breakfast?

Just then, she heard a voice from behind: “Hello Gigi! Why are you so sad?” It was her best friend, Elly the Elephant. Elly flapped her big ears and smiled at her friend.

Elly walked around the tree with heavy steps. With her long trunk, she pointed to a smaller branch hidden among the leaves on the side of the tree. “Look Gigi,” she said, “if you try from here, you can reach those leaves.”

Gigi took a few steps toward the spot Elly was pointing to. From there, the branches really did look much closer. Gigi took a deep breath and slowly stretched her neck toward that branch.

And she did it! Gigi’s soft lips touched the fresh leaves. One, two, three... she reached the most delicious leaves easily this time. The leaves tasted just as wonderful as she had imagined.

Gigi was so happy that she started to hop around. “Hooray! I did it!” she shouted. As her tummy got full, she immediately thought of her friend Elly who had helped her.

Gigi stretched her neck, picked a few of the freshest branches, and handed them down to Elly. “These are for you, Elly. Thank you so much for your help,” she said.

Gigi realized that different animals have different talents. She was tall, but Elly's careful eyes had seen a path she couldn't see. Elly happily ate the leaves Gigi gave her.

The two friends shared the delicious leaves and had a wonderful breakfast together under the sun. The joy of friendship and sharing filled the savanna. Now, even the highest leaves didn't seem impossible to them.
