Daisy the Little Duck and the Rain Song
Daisy opened her eyes and heard a soft pitter-patter outside. She sat up in her cozy nest and tilted her head. It was the sound of the morning rain beginning to fall on the forest.
“Tip tap tip!” The raindrops were dancing on the wooden roof above her head. Daisy listened to the rhythm and began to nod her head to the beat.
Daisy wiggled her tail and felt a happy wiggle in her heart. “I can make a song out of this!” she thought. She decided to turn the rainy day into a musical adventure.
“Tip tap, drip drop!” Daisy sang as she stepped outside into the cool, fresh air. She marched along the path, matching her steps to the falling drops.
Her friend Freddy the Frog hopped over with a big splash. He saw Daisy singing and wanted to join the fun. “Can I play, too?” he asked with a blink of his big eyes.
Freddy knew exactly how to help. He kept the beat for the song. “Croak, croak!” he sang, jumping from one lily pad to another in the pond.
Daisy found a big, shiny puddle and walked to the edge. She used her bright flippers to gently tap-tap-tap on the surface of the water.
“Drip, drip, drip!” The water made beautiful circles that moved across the puddle. Daisy laughed as the ripples danced along with her song.
High up in the trees, Pip the Squirrel heard the music. He grabbed two hard acorns and began to click them together like drumsticks. Freddy looked up and cheered.
Everyone was playing together now! It was the best rain orchestra in the whole forest. Daisy led the group, swinging her umbrella like a conductor's wand.
Daisy listened closely to all the different sounds. She learned how to wait for the “tip tap” before adding her “quack.” She was learning the secret of a perfect rhythm.
Slowly, the sun peeked through the clouds and the rain stopped. The forest grew quiet, so the friends sang their rain song one last time, loud and proud.
