Once upon a time, in a cheerful forest full of green trees, lived a little bear named Barnaby. Barnaby was playing with his favorite toy: a bright, cherry-red balloon. He swung it back and forth, jumping with joy in the soft grass.

Suddenly, a strong wind began to blow through the trees. “Whoosh!” went the wind, making Barnaby’s fur flutter. Barnaby looked around in surprise because the wind was very strong and the leaves were dancing all around him.

But then, something happened! The wind blew so hard that the balloon's string slipped right out of Barnaby’s little paw. The red balloon began to float slowly up toward the bright blue sky. “No, my balloon!” Barnaby cried out.

Barnaby immediately started chasing the balloon. He ran quickly over the soft forest floor with his small steps. “Stop, balloon, please stop!” he puffed as he hurried deeper and deeper into the woods, never taking his eyes off the red dot in the sky.

The red balloon danced with the wind and finally hit a massive oak tree. Its string got tangled around one of the highest, leafiest branches. The balloon hung there, stuck and still, far away from the ground.

Barnaby tried to climb the tree, but the branches were too high. He jumped and jumped, but his paws couldn't reach the string. He didn't want to leave his favorite balloon there, but he didn't know what to do. Barnaby’s eyes filled with tears.

Just then, Bramble the Rabbit and Oakly the Squirrel came out from the bushes. Seeing Barnaby so sad, they ran over to him. “What’s wrong, Barnaby? Why are you so sad?” they asked. Barnaby pointed up at his trapped balloon.

Right then, Ziggy the Giraffe walked over with his long legs. Ziggy was the tallest animal in the forest. Barnaby looked up at Ziggy and said, “Ziggy, please can you help me? My balloon is stuck way up high.” Ziggy smiled and replied, “Of course, Barnaby! That’s what friends are for.”

Ziggy the Giraffe stretched his long neck toward the sky. He reached all the way to the very top branch of the oak tree. Gently, he caught the balloon’s string in his mouth and carefully pulled it away from the leaves.

Ziggy lowered his head and handed the string back to Barnaby. Barnaby jumped for joy as he took it. “Thank you so much, Ziggy! I never could have gotten it back without you,” he said. A big, happy smile was back on Barnaby’s face.

Barnaby looked at his friends and said, “I learned that when things get difficult, it is very important to ask for help.” Bramble the Rabbit nodded and added, “Yes, when we work together, we can solve any problem!”

As the sunny day continued, Barnaby, Ziggy, Bramble, and Oakly all started to play together. While the red balloon floated safely in the air, the friends' laughter filled the forest. Playing together was much more fun than playing alone.
