About this genre
Educational stories teach an idea through what a character does rather than through a lesson: Topi spots shapes in his toys, Pip the hedgehog counts apples into a basket. This page gathers more than 90 free books on colors, shapes, opposites, counting, seasons, simple English phrases and coding, each with narration.

What do the educational stories teach?
Books for ages 0-3 cover colors, shapes, opposites like big and small, animal sounds and counting to nine. Ages 4-9 move on to seasons, counting to 20 and naming colors and objects, and the 10-12 books turn to coding and problem solving.
Which ages are most of these books for?
More than half are for ages 0-3, where short single-concept books work best. There are also around fifteen longer books for 10-12 year olds, built around a team solving a problem step by step.
Won't an educational story feel like a lesson?
Here the concept is folded into the plot: numbers arrive as a basket fills up, colors as a bunny hops from a ladybug to a rainbow. Asking your child to point at things on the page, rather than quizzing them, keeps the book feeling like play.
Are there stories for children learning English?
Yes. Cem and Lila's Treasure Box repeats a single pattern, 'Is this a...?', as objects come out of a box, and Ellie and the English Adventure of Colors names ten colors with everyday things. Both suit beginners around ages 7-9, and each book also has a Turkish version for bilingual families.
What can we do after an educational story?
Look for the concept around you: circles and triangles in the kitchen after the shapes book, counting toys after the counting book. Downloading the illustrations as a coloring PDF keeps the color conversation going.
Can I use these stories in a preschool classroom?
Yes. Play the narration on the board, then ask children to find the concept in the room. Text can be enlarged to 30 pixels, so it stays readable from the back.
