Puli and the Leaf Calendar

Once upon a time, there was a little pangolin named Puli. He found a very big, very tall tree. The tree was waiting for something special.

Look! called Pip the Rabbit. He hopped over to Puli. Small green buds were growing on the branches. Spring was here!

The sun grew warm and bright. The buds turned into big, green leaves. Hazel the Squirrel scampered up the trunk to find a place to play.

Tweet, tweet! sang Sky the Bird. She flew down to meet Hazel. The tree was full of rustling green leaves and cool shade.

Summer was very hot. Puli and Sky rested under the big green umbrella of the tree. The leaves kept them nice and cool.

One morning, the air felt different. The leaves are changing! said Puli. Slowy the Turtle moved slowly to the tree to see the new yellow colors.

Soon, the tree was a rainbow of red and orange. Quill the Hedgehog arrived, sniffing the crisp autumn air. The leaves were ready to dance.

Crunch, crunch, crunch! Puli and Quill played in the fallen leaves. They made a giant pile and jumped right in.

A cold wind began to blow. Whooo! Whooo! it whispered. Puli and Pip the Rabbit shivered. The tree branches were becoming bare again.

Soft, white snow began to fall. Everything was quiet and white. Hazel the Squirrel found a safe spot near the roots to hide a nut.

It was time for a long nap. Goodnight, tree, whispered Puli. He and Slowy the Turtle got ready for their winter sleep.

After a long sleep, Puli opened his eyes. He looked up and saw a tiny green bud. Hello, Spring! Puli smiled. The leaf calendar was starting again.
