Pip the Mouse and the Big Picnic
On a sunny morning, Pip the mouse woke up with a big smile. He decided to prepare a wonderful picnic for his friends in the forest. “Today will be a day for sharing!” he said to himself.
Pip got straight to work. From the bottom shelf of his pantry, he pulled out a small, light basket with a woven handle. It was just the right size for all the treats he wanted to carry for the big day.
Pip walked to the fruit tree in his garden. From the lowest branch, he picked a bright red, juicy apple that was shining in the light. He carefully placed it inside his basket without bruising it.
He wanted to add something more to the apple. He dove into the bushes and added some sweet, dark blackberries he picked with his tiny paws. The basket already started to smell delicious.
Just then, Bouncer the bunny and Crunchy the squirrel arrived happily. They had also brought their own delicious food, ready for Pip's picnic invitation and feeling very excited.
Flutter the bird also soared down from the sky with a flap of her wings. When everyone brought their food to Pip, the basket was full to the brim in no time.
They chose the flattest and softest patch of grass for their picnic. Pip and Bouncer happily spread out a large, red-and-white checkered picnic blanket over the green grass.
Now came the most fun part. Crunchy carefully placed the nuts he had gathered, and Flutter arranged some tiny grains of wheat right in the middle of the blanket.
Pip looked at the colorful variety of food spread across the blanket with great curiosity. The apples, blackberries, nuts, and seeds glowed like a rainbow. He studied each item one by one.
Working together, they prepared a small but grand feast. Pip and Bouncer shared out the cups and plates so that there was a special place for every friend at the blanket.
As they sat down, Pip was very happy. He saw that the table was much more diverse and fun when everyone shared what they had. He felt so proud of his friends and their feast.
As the sun slowly set, their bellies were full and their hearts were happy. At the end of the picnic, everyone thanked each other for the wonderful day and promised to meet again soon.
