Little Nutty the squirrel loved running through the big forest and looking for the tastiest acorns. Today, the air smelled like fresh, wet earth. “I am definitely going to discover something wonderful today!” he shouted happily as he hopped along. As Nutty bounced along the path, he heard a rustling sound coming from the bushes. Crinkle, crunch! “I wonder who is there?” he whispered, stopping to listen. He wagged his big, bushy tail and moved closer to the sound. Are you a curious explorer too?

The sound was coming from a little hedgehog named Quill! Poor Quill was trying to reach a sweet, red wild strawberry that was stuck on one of his sharp spines. Nutty immediately ran to help. “Let me get that for you!” he said. How does helping a friend make you feel?

Together, Nutty and Quill carefully freed the strawberry. Quill gave a big, bright smile. “Thank you! Would you like to come with me to the secret oak grove?” he asked. Nutty loved that idea! Do you like discovering new places?

The two friends walked through the thick trees until they reached a secret place filled with colorful flowers. The trees here were so tall that their branches seemed to touch the very top of the sky! Birds were singing beautiful songs from the branches. Can you make a sound like a bird?

In the middle of the grove, there was a tiny path covered in sweet little stones. Quill pointed to the path and said, “Look! These stones are glowing. It is like they are calling us to follow them.” Do you like seeing glowing, colorful stones?

At the end of the path, they were met by a cheerful mole named Monty. Monty popped his head out of the soft, dark soil and waved his paw at them. “Welcome, my lovely friends!” he said with a giggle. What other animals do you know that live underground?

Monty offered them some fresh, crunchy carrot slices he had just gathered. Nutty and Quill sat down to enjoy the snack. Having a snack with friends in the fresh air is so much fun! What is your favorite snack?
