Once upon a time, there was a curious little kitten named Mittens, whose fur was as soft as cotton. Mittens' favorite toy was a grey mouse with a tiny, tinkling bell. Every morning, as soon as he woke up, he loved to play with it. But that morning when Mittens woke up, his mouse was not in its usual spot!

Mittens searched every corner of the room. First, he crawled under his fluffy bed, then he hid behind the long, flowing curtains. “Meow! Where could you be?” he called out. But there was no answer. Mittens was not about to give up his search.

Finally, Mittens approached the large, colorful toy box in the middle of the room. The lid of the box was slightly open. “Maybe it's hiding inside,” he thought, and he pushed the lid open wider with his nose. The inside was filled with toys!

Mittens dipped his paw into the box. The first thing he found was a bright, round, and very red ball. Mittens pulled the ball out of the box and left it on the rug. “This isn't my mouse; this is a bouncy red ball,” he said.

The box was still very full. This time, Mittens touched something with corners. He pulled a bright yellow cube out of the box. He placed the cube right next to the red ball. “This isn't my mouse either; this is a yellow cube with sharp corners,” he murmured.

Mittens was determined to look even deeper into the box. This time, his paw bumped into something with wheels. He pulled out a large, bright blue toy car. “This is a very fast blue car, but I still haven't found my mouse!” Mittens said.

When he reached the very bottom of the box, Mittens' eyes sparkled. There, hiding under all the other toys, was his grey, fuzzy mouse with the bell! Mittens grabbed his mouse with great joy. “There you are! I found you!” he cheered.

Just then, the door opened and Mittens’ big friend, a cat named Lumi, walked in. Lumi smiled when she saw the mess on the floor. The room was a bit cluttered with red balls, yellow cubes, and blue cars. “I'm glad you found your mouse, Mittens,” Lumi said, “but all your toys are left outside!”

Lumi gave Mittens an idea: “If you put your toys back in the box by sorting them by their colors, you can find everything you're looking for much more easily.” Lumi showed him how by taking the yellow cube and placing it in a corner of the box.

Mittens loved this idea. First he placed the red ball, then the yellow cube, and finally the blue car into different sections of the box. Now everything was tidy, and his toy mouse was safe too. Mittens realized just how much fun being organized could be.
