Little Frog and the Green Leaf

Pipi the little frog went for a walk in the garden. Suddenly, he found something wonderful. It was a very big, very green leaf! Oh! said Pipi. What a beautiful leaf!

Pipi picked up the leaf. He put it right on top of his head. He looked in a puddle and smiled. Look at me! said Pipi. It is a fancy green hat!

Pitter-patter, pitter-patter! The sky grew grey and the rain began to fall. Pipi did not want to get wet. He held the leaf up high with his hands.

Mimi the mouse was running through the grass. She was very wet! Come here, Mimi! called Pipi. Pipi and Mimi stood close together. Now the leaf was a big umbrella.

Soon, the clouds went away. The bright sun came out to play. Pipi laid the leaf down on the soft, tickly grass. I am tired, Pipi said. The leaf was a soft bed.

Lulu the ladybug flew down from a flower. She wanted to rest too. Pipi moved over to make room. Pipi and Lulu closed their eyes on the cozy leaf bed.

After his nap, Pipi had a grand idea. He dragged the leaf all the way to the edge of the blue pond. He pushed the leaf slowly into the water.

Jump on, Lulu! called Pipi. Pipi and Lulu sat on the leaf as it floated away. The wind blew softly. Now the leaf was a fast boat with a green sail.

When they reached the other side, Pipi pulled the leaf onto a big, flat rock. He propped one end of the leaf up high and let the other end touch the ground.

Mimi the mouse came to see the new toy. Whee! she cried. She climbed to the top and zoomed all the way down. The leaf was a very slippery slide!

The sun began to set. Pipi and Mimi propped the leaf against a small branch. They crawled underneath where it was warm. It is a tiny tent, whispered Pipi.

It was time for sleep. Pipi gave the leaf a big hug. He curled up in the middle of the green leaf and fell fast asleep. Goodnight, Pipi. Goodnight, leaf.
