Toby the little wild goat stood in a bright, green meadow. He looked up at the high mountain and saw something amazing. The fluffy white clouds were stacked in a line, just like steps. “Oh my!” Toby cried. “Is that a staircase to the sky?”

Toby looked even closer. Each cloud step looked as soft as cotton and as white as snow. He closed his eyes and imagined himself hopping from one cloud to the next. Boing! Boing! He dreamed of climbing all the way up to touch the twinkling stars.

Just then, Sky the eaglet landed softly beside him. “Look, Sky! The clouds are a staircase!” Toby said with a wiggle of his ears. Sky flapped his wings and looked up. “I don't think so, Toby,” Sky chirped. “To me, those clouds look like a giant, soft bird wing!”

Bouncy the rabbit came hopping along. He looked at the sky and wiggled his pink nose. “That's not a wing or a staircase,” Bouncy giggled. “It looks like a giant ship floating in the sky! And I bet it is filled with crunchy orange carrots!”

Monty the marmot peeked his head out from behind a big gray rock. He rubbed his sleepy eyes and looked at the mountain. “I see a grand castle,” Monty whispered. “Look at those tall cloud towers. It looks like a place for a king!”

Dotty the butterfly fluttered down and landed on a bright pink flower. She flapped her colorful wings and whispered, “Look over there! That cloud looks like a giant daisy. It looks like it is just about to bloom in the blue sky.”

Pip the sparrow chirped a happy song and landed on a low tree branch. “The very top cloud looks like a king’s gold crown!” Pip sang. All the friends sat together in the cool shade of the tree, watching the magic shapes drift by.

Toby looked at the friends and then he looked at you! “Everyone sees something different,” Toby said with a big smile. “What do you see in the clouds today? Go ahead, point to your favorite shape in the sky!”

Toby smiled at Sky the eaglet. “Did you know that clouds are actually made of tiny drops of water called vapor?” Toby explained. “They aren't really made of cotton or stone, but using our imagination is the most fun thing in the whole world!”

“Even if we can't touch the clouds, our minds let us see anything we want,” Toby told Bouncy and Monty. Bouncy wiggled his ears and Monty nodded his head. Having a big imagination made them the happiest friends in the meadow.

As the sun began to set, the sky turned bright orange, soft pink, and deep purple. The cloud staircase changed too! Now it looked like a golden path glowing in the light. The flowers in the meadow began to nod their heads in the evening breeze.

It is a treasure that everyone sees the world in their own special way. Imagination gives us many beautiful windows to look through. Toby and Pip settled down for a rest. Goodnight, little dreamers!
