Pip the Snail is moving very slowly. He sees a big, bright red mushroom with white spots. Oh, look! Pip says. What a beautiful spot to rest.

Hop, hop, hop! Fluff the Rabbit arrives with a twitch of his nose. He sits next to Pip, and they look at a pretty pink flower together. It smells so sweet, says Fluff.

Scuttle, scuttle! Spiky the Hedgehog joins the group. He sits quietly beside Pip as they watch a yellow leaf fall from a tree. It twirls and dances in the air.

Zoom, zoom! Nutty the Squirrel scurries down from a tall tree. It is a warm day, so Pip and Nutty decide to rest in the cool shade of the big red mushroom.

Tweet, tweet! Chirp the Sparrow flies down from the sky. He lands softly near Pip. They both look at a tiny, sparkly dewdrop sitting on a blade of grass.

Peep, peep! Lemon the Chick wanders over to the mushroom. He and Pip stay very still. They listen to the gentle swish-swish of the leaves rustling in the breeze.

Plod, plod, plod. Shellie the Turtle walks over slowly. She and Pip look up at the sky. The golden sun is warm on their faces, making everything bright.

Tip-toe, tip-toe. Ember the Fawn comes out from behind the trees. She lowers her head to Pip's level. Together, they smell the soft, green moss growing on a rock.

Buzz, buzz! Dotty the Ladybug lands right on a leaf next to Pip. They sit together and watch colorful butterflies fluttering high above the forest floor.

Baa, baa! Curly the Lamb skips over to the red mushroom. Hello, Pip! says Curly. Pip is so happy to meet a new friend in his favorite forest spot.

Now, all the friends have gathered by the red mushroom. Curly and Nutty are sharing stories and laughing together. The forest is full of happy sounds.

Pip the Snail is the happiest of all. He looks at his many friends and smiles. He knows that even slow steps can lead to the most beautiful friendships.
