Leo loved walking in the vast forest behind his house. One day, he noticed something new along the trail. A small wooden sign was nailed to a tree. It featured a drawing of a squirrel and an arrow pointing to the right. “What could these mysterious signs be?” Leo wondered, and he decided to follow the arrow.

After following several signs, Leo reached a clearing where he saw a small wooden cabin and a woman working outside. Her name was Sage. Sage explained that this was a nature project started to protect and identify local animals. Leo’s eyes sparkled. “Can I be a part of this project too?” he asked excitedly.

Sage gave Leo a special mission. “Your job is to observe the birds around the old plane tree by the stream,” she said. She handed him a blank observation notebook and a pencil. Leo held the notebook tightly; he was now a nature detective. He immediately set off toward the stream.

On the first day, Leo was very excited. When he reached the stream, he rushed through the bushes, stepping loudly on branches and shouting, “Birds! Where are you?” But everything went silent. He could only hear the sound of wings fluttering away. When he returned home that evening, his notebook was still snowy white; he hadn't seen a single bird.

The next morning, Leo woke up early. “Maybe I was too hurried,” he thought. This time, when he reached the plane tree, he didn't make a sound. He sat down on a soft patch of moss and began to wait without moving. He listened only to the whisper of the wind and the gurgling of the water.

After a while, a miracle happened. Leo was so quiet that the birds forgot he was there. First, a small bird with blue wings landed on the nearest branch. Then, another with an orange breast joined it. Leo held his breath and slowly picked up his pencil. The birds had started to sing.

Leo recorded everything he saw in his notebook. He drew the colors of the birds and noted the shapes of their beaks. “The blue bird is gathering insects, and the orange one is pecking at the tree bark,” he wrote. He didn't even notice how time passed. Being patient had opened the doors of nature to him.

As the hours went by, Leo noticed something else surprising. The types of birds changed depending on the position of the sun. Some birds that hid in the midday heat appeared in the cool of the late afternoon. Every bird had its own schedule and its own route. Leo meticulously entered all this information onto his pages.

At the end of the week, Leo took his notebook, now full of drawings and notes, back to Sage. Sage couldn't hide her surprise as she flipped through the pages. “This information is very valuable for scientists, Leo! Thanks to your patience and attention, you have reported the secret world of birds wonderfully,” she said.

Sage pinned a small badge with a bird symbol onto Leo’s lapel. Leo was no longer just a boy; he was a “Forest Postman.” This was because he read the hidden messages in nature and carried that information to people. Leo smiled as he left the forest; he was already looking forward to the new news he would bring tomorrow.
