Lily's pockets were always full of interesting things. But she loved the little treasures found in the hearts of fruits most—seeds. She would quickly tuck an apple seed or an acorn she found in the garden into her bag. To her, every seed was a miracle waiting to be discovered.

One Monday morning, her teacher, Mrs. Jade, came to class with a mysterious box. “Children,” she said with a smile, “inside this box is hidden a whole world, giant trees, and delicious vegetables.” Lily began to listen to her teacher from the front row with excitement.

Mrs. Jade took an acorn out of the box. “Seeds are the keys to the future,” she continued. “If we don't protect them correctly, it might become difficult for us to grow plants later on. That's why there are big seed banks all around the world.”

Lily had a wonderful idea. She raised her hand and asked, “Teacher, can we start our own seed bank in our classroom?” Mrs. Jade loved the idea. “What a great idea, Lily! Everyone, seed hunters to work!” she said.

At recess, Lily ran to her best friend, Fern. She told her about the seed collection at home and the new project they would start at school. Fern was also very excited. Lily took an empty glass jar out of her bag and showed it to Fern.

The next day, the classroom felt like a festival. Oakley brought sunflower seeds from his grandfather's garden. “These will grow into giant flowers!” he said proudly. Lily carefully took the seeds her friend brought.

Lily and Fern spread all the brought seeds on the table. They needed to sort them by type. Lentils on one side, beans on the other... Some seeds were smooth, and some were fuzzy.

To store seeds, just sorting them wasn't enough. Fern took out her colored pencils and started preparing small labels. She wrote the name of the plant and the date it was brought on each label. “Correct labeling is the rule of a successful bank,” Fern laughed.

Mrs. Jade came over to Lily and handed her a magnifying glass. Lily was very surprised when she saw the patterns on a tiny seed with the magnifying glass. “Look, Lily,” said Mrs. Jade, “every seed has its own unique fingerprint.”

As the days passed, the collection grew. The jars began to overflow. Lily felt very happy as she looked at the colorful seeds inside the jars. Now they didn't just have seeds; they had the gardens of the future in their hands.

Finally, it was time for the exhibition. Lily and Fern went to a sunny corner of the classroom and organized the shelves. They placed each jar carefully. They hung a sign that said “The Little Seed Bank” right in the middle.

This exhibition, opened in the school's nature corner, caught the interest of all students. Mrs. Jade looked at Lily and said, “This small step you took to protect the future can turn into a huge forest.” Lily now knew very well how much big work small seeds could accomplish.
