Cem’s Big Question Adventure

Cem is a very curious boy. He loves to look at things and learn their names. One sunny morning, Cem finds a colorful list of items to find in his garden. "I am going on an adventure!" Cem shouts. He grabs his magnifying glass and runs outside to start his quest.

Cem walks into the garden and sees something round and white on the green grass. He points his finger at it and looks at his friend, Pip the parrot. "Is this an apple?" Cem asks. Pip shakes his head and whistles. "No, it isn't," Pip replies.

Cem walks over to a big tree with low branches. He sees a round, red fruit hanging from a leaf. He reaches out to touch it. "Is this an apple?" Cem asks. Pip chirps happily and flaps his wings. "Yes, it is!" Pip says. Cem puts the fruit in his basket.

Cem walks to a table on the patio. He sees a long, curved yellow object. Cem wonders if it is a different kind of fruit. "Is this an orange?" Cem asks. Pip tilts his head and looks at the object. "No, it isn't," Pip says.

Cem looks inside a bowl on the same table. He sees a round fruit with bright, bumpy skin. He picks it up and smells it. "Is this an orange?" Cem asks. Pip dances on the table. "Yes, it is!" Pip squawks. Cem smiles and adds it to his basket.

Cem goes to the backyard and sees a small, furry animal with a long tail sleeping in the sun. Cem remembers a very big animal he saw in a book. "Is this an elephant?" Cem asks. Pip covers his eyes with his wings and laughs. "No, it isn't," Pip says.

Cem walks toward the gate and sees a giant grey shape with a very long trunk and big ears. It is a large toy for the playground. "Is this an elephant?" Cem asks. Pip flies up and sits on the grey trunk. "Yes, it is!" Pip shouts.

Cem goes back inside the house to the kitchen. He finds a shiny, silver object on the counter. It is thin and has a round end. "Is this an umbrella?" Cem asks. Pip looks at the shiny object and looks confused. "No, it isn't," Pip says.

Cem looks behind the kitchen door. He sees a tall, blue object with a handle. He pushes a button and the object pops open like a giant flower. "Is this an umbrella?" Cem asks. Pip flies under the blue fabric. "Yes, it is!" Pip chirps.

Cem looks out the window and sees something white moving fast across the blue sky. It makes a very loud "vroom" sound. "Is this an insect?" Cem asks. Pip looks out the window and watches the white trail in the clouds. "No, it isn't," Pip says.

Cem goes back to the garden and looks at a bright purple flower. A tiny, fuzzy creature with yellow stripes is buzzing around the petals. "Is this an insect?" Cem asks quietly. Pip hovers close to the flower. "Yes, it is!" Pip whispers.

Cem looks at his list. He has found everything! He feels very smart and happy. He looks at Pip and points to himself. "Am I an explorer?" Cem asks with a big grin. Pip lands on Cem’s hand. "Yes, you are!" Pip says.
