# Toby's Rainy Day Adventure

> The sun was hiding behind the clouds, but Toby the Turtle was already wide awake. He stretched his little arms and gave a big yawn in his soft bed. The air smelled fresh and damp—the wonderful, earthy smell of a rainy morning! Suddenly, the sun peeked through the clouds and the rain stopped. A beautiful bridge of colors appeared across the sky. “Look, Toby! A rainbow!” Daisy cried. Red, orange, yellow, green, blue... the whole world was bright and beautiful.

The sun was hiding behind the clouds, but Toby the Turtle was already wide awake. He stretched his little arms and gave a big yawn in his soft bed. The air smelled fresh and damp—the wonderful, earthy smell of a rainy morning!

Toby waddled quickly to the window. “Tip-tap, tip-tap,” went the tiny raindrops against the glass. Outside, the flowers were nodding their heads in the breeze. “Perfect!” Toby cheered. “It is a wonderful day to go outside!”

Toby started to get ready for his big walk. He put on his favorite bright yellow raincoat and snapped the buttons shut. Then, he pulled on his shiny red boots, one by one. He was ready for a splashy adventure!

As soon as Toby opened the door, the cool air kissed his nose. In the middle of the garden, he saw a big, blue puddle. Toby took a little run, counted to three, and... “Boing!” He jumped right into the middle.

Down by the edge of the pond, someone was very busy. Daisy the Duck was flapping her wings and wagging her tail. Daisy loved the rain; even though her feathers were all wet, she looked very happy.

“Daisy! Daisy!” Toby called out. Daisy turned her head and her eyes lit up when she saw her best friend. The two friends ran toward each other and shared a happy greeting. Playing in the rain was much better with a friend.

Together, they went searching for the biggest puddles in the garden. “One, two, three... jump!” they shouted. Splish, splash, splosh! The sound of the splashing water was like the best music in the world.

After a while, the rain began to fall much harder. Toby and Daisy found a giant green leaf that had fallen from a tree. They huddled together underneath it. The leaf was a perfect, giant umbrella for two.

“Listen, Daisy,” Toby whispered. They sat very still and listened to the “tap-tap-tap” of the raindrops hitting their leafy roof. It sounded like a soft, rhythmic song. Toby closed his eyes and felt very peaceful.
