As the sun rose slowly behind the hills, Pip the Little Panda woke up. He yawned, stretched his fluffy arms, and turned to look at his favorite flower on the windowsill. But something was wrong! The flower, which always glowed bright red, was now a dull, dusty gray. Pip rubbed his eyes with his paws, but the color did not come back.

Pip rushed outside into the forest. As he walked, his surprise grew even more. The butterflies fluttering in the air were gray, the vibrant leaves on the trees were gray, and even the grass on the ground looked like old, faded paper. “What happened to the colors of the world?” Pip whispered. The forest felt like it had fallen into a deep, sad sleep.

Just then, Percy the Parrot landed on a nearby branch. Even Percy’s beautiful green feathers had turned completely gray. “Don't be sad, Pip,” Percy said cheerfully. “Maybe the colors are just hiding. If we look for them together, we can bring them back to the forest!” Pip felt much better. The two friends set off to find the very first color.

“First, we must find red,” Percy said, flapping his wings. They searched high and low until they reached a fruit tree. Suddenly, Percy chirped with excitement. “Look, Pip! Something is glowing down there!” Tucked away among the gray leaves and branches, a tiny, brilliant red dot was shimmering on the ground like a fallen star.

Pip crept closer and saw that the red dot was actually a tiny ladybug. He gently let the ladybug crawl onto his finger. At that moment, a warm light burst from the ladybug with a soft “Puff!” Suddenly, the flowers, the berries, and the fruit in the trees turned bright, beautiful red again. Pip and Percy jumped for joy.

“Now for yellow!” Pip said. As they walked through the tall, gray grass, Pip noticed a strange glimmer. He knelt down and peeked between the blades of grass. There, he found a trapped ball of golden light. It was so bright that it made Pip’s whole face shine. He reached out and caught the light gently in his paws.

When Pip opened his paws, the yellow light floated up into the sky like a balloon. As the light popped high in the air, the gray butterflies flying nearby suddenly turned a brilliant yellow. Percy flew among them, laughing and circling the golden wings. The forest was starting to look much happier.

“What about green?” Percy asked. “A forest isn't a forest without green!” The two friends came to a massive, ancient tree with a large hole in its trunk. They peeked inside together. Deep in the corner, they found a glowing green light that smelled as fresh as mint. The color green had been fast asleep right there.

As the green light spilled out of the tree, everything changed in an instant. The gray branches came to life, the leaves turned a lush green, and the grass became a soft, emerald carpet. Pip was so happy that he threw his arms around the trunk of the tree and gave it a big hug. The birds returned to the branches and began to sing.

“There is only one color left,” Percy said. “The blue of the sky and the water!” They hurried to the edge of the stream, but the water was still gray and still. Percy spotted a glowing blue stone resting on the bank. He picked it up with his beak and carefully dropped it into the water. As soon as the stone touched the surface, blue ripples spread everywhere.

Now everything was even more beautiful than before. There were red flowers, yellow butterflies, green trees, and a sparkling blue stream. Pip and Percy stood in the middle of the forest, looking at the rainbow of colors. They were so proud of what they had done together. With the colors back, the heart of the forest was beating again.

As the day ended, Pip returned to his little home. When he climbed into bed, he looked at the red flower on his windowsill and smiled. He understood the warmth of red, the joy of yellow, the peace of green, and the calm of blue. The world was so much better with colors. Pip closed his eyes and fell into a happy, peaceful sleep.
