# Ella the Ermine and the Mixed Footprints

> After the rain, the muddy path was full of surprises. Ella the Ermine looked down and saw many different footprints sparkling in the sun. They all went in different directions. “I wonder who these belong to?” Ella whispered to herself. All the friends stood together in the sun. Ella looked at the path and smiled. “Every footprint is different,” she said, “but we all share the same garden. Our different prints help us know each other better!”

After the rain, the muddy path was full of surprises. Ella the Ermine looked down and saw many different footprints sparkling in the sun. They all went in different directions. “I wonder who these belong to?” Ella whispered to herself.

Suddenly, a pair of very long prints appeared on the path. Barnaby the Bunny hopped over with a big wiggle of his nose. “Those are mine!” Barnaby giggled. “My back feet are very long so I can jump extra high!”

## Page 3
Ella placed her tiny paw right next to Barnaby’s long footprint. Her print was a small, round dot, while Barnaby’s was much bigger. “Look how different we are!” Ella cried. Barnaby nodded, his long ears flopping happily.

Further down the path, they found triangular prints joined by thin lines. Dottie the Duck waddled out from a puddle. “Quack! Those are my webbed feet,” Dottie said. “They help me paddle through the water like little oars!”

## Page 5
Barnaby and Dottie looked at their tracks side-by-side. Barnaby’s prints were long and narrow, but Dottie’s were wide and flat. “One for jumping and one for swimming,” Barnaby said, admiring the shapes.

From under a leafy bush, tiny star-shaped prints emerged. Pip the Hedgehog peeked out with a shy smile. “My toes make little points in the mud,” Pip whispered. “They look just like tiny stars, don't they?”

Dottie the Duck waddled over to see Pip’s tracks. Dottie’s wide prints looked like big fans next to Pip’s tiny stars. The mud was becoming a gallery of beautiful shapes!

Near the tall oak tree, they found light prints with sharp little marks at the tips. Sammy the Squirrel scurried down the trunk. “I am very light,” Sammy chirped. “My sharp claws leave tiny pokes in the earth so I don't slip!”

## Page 9
Pip the Hedgehog and Sammy the Squirrel compared their tracks. Pip’s star-shaped toes and Sammy’s thin claw marks made a funny pattern. They were both small, but their feet did very different jobs.

At the end of the path, they saw large, hard prints shaped like two halves of a heart. Finn the Fawn walked gracefully toward them. “My hooves are strong and hard,” Finn explained. “I leave deep marks because I am the tallest of all.”

## Page 11
Sammy the Squirrel scampered near Finn’s feet. Sammy’s tiny clawed print looked like a speck next to Finn’s big, deep hoof print. “One is light as a feather, and one is heavy as a stone!” Sammy chattered.
